We are looking for an Automotive Spray Painter for an immediate start. The role can be either part-time or casual, depending on the candidate.

You will receive work assignments from the workshop manager and must independently determine work methods in accordance with standard automotive painting practices. A working knowledge of the standard methods and practices of automotive painting and of the materials and methods used in painting or refinishing is required.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Taking off rough spots on affected areas of vehicle panels
  • Sanding affected surfaces of panel by hand and with power sanders with precision
  • Masking areas not to be painted with tape and paper
  • Colour-matching and mixing paints to match paint shades according to original colour of the panel
  • Preparing paint to desired colour and consistency
  • Preparing spraying equipment, such as cleaning or adjusting spray gun
  • Making selection of pre-mixed paint to match with the required job
  • Carefully applying primer and finishing coats using spray-guns, and sanding surfaces between coats on the panel
  • Touching up paintwork and applying polish to vehicles wherever required
  • Removing masking papers, waxing and polishing finished paintwork, and cleaning the surface from any residue
  • Painting signs and artwork on vehicles and removing existing marks or artwork
  • Applying decals to painted vehicles
  • Maintain stock levels of all items required for the completion of duties
  • Wearing the correct PPE and following the safety procedures

We are looking for competent mechanics to join our friendly SG Equipment team. We have vacancies across the upper North Island – in the Northland, Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty areas.

Applicants will ideally have:

  • A background repairing forklifts.
  • A Trade Certificate or a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience servicing and repairing forklifts and other heavy materials handling equipment.
  • Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work in the field unsupervised, and in the workshop as required.
  • Have a positive can-do attitude, strong work ethic and reliable track record.
  • Have strong attention-to-detail and the ability to think laterally.
  • Able to keep accurate records and complete all paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Have great customer communication skills.

These are full-time positions, and remuneration will be negotiable depending on experience.

Applicants for this position should be a New Zealand Citizen or have New Zealand Residency, hold a full, clean New Zealand driver's licence and have a good knowledge of the area they would be working in.
